Disability and Industrial Society wins commended award in University of Strathclyde 'Images of Research' competition

Angela Turner of the Disability and Industrial Society project won a commended award at the University of Strathclyde ‘Images of Research’ Competition on 28th April 2014. The annual Images of Research competition highlights innovative work at the University of Strathclyde through compelling images. The competition and subsequent year-long exhibition brings the research conducted at Strathclyde to an audience of thousands of people visiting art galleries, museums and public spaces.

The Principal Sir Jim McDonald announced the 4 category winners and commended entries at the opening night of the exhibition at the Collins Gallery on the 28th April. The images for the exhibition were chosen by judges Ray McHugh, Head of Marketing and Communications at Strathclyde, Duncan Smith, Science & Interpretation Assistant at Glasgow Science Centre and Heather Reid OBE, former television weather presenter and meteorologist.

The image chosen to be exhibited from the Disability and Industrial Society Project was found at the National Mining Museum Archive and was entered under the theme ‘The Public and Communities’ and will now be displayed in various locations throughout the world over the next year:
